Shining (Nor) release full Blackjazz DVD performance on Youtube

Norway’s progressive/jazz/industrial/metal masterminds Shining have released their Live Blackjazz DVD in it’s entirety on their official Youtube Channel. Recorded in 2011 at Rockefeller in Olso, Norway, the set includes music from three of Shinings records Blackjazz (2010), Grindstone (2007) and In the Kingdom of Kitsch You Will Be a Monster.

I wrote previously about how I got to know the band and their music (when they were on tour with Devin Townsend Project) and we included them earlier this year in our own series on modern progressive music, Into the Machine. Frontman and Sax-man, Jørgen Munkeby broke down the history of the band and how they progressed from a John Coltrane inspired jazz quartet to the Blackjazz-metal powerhouse they are today.
